Ok. Maybe this will not deal with dance, specifically. But what a great opportunity to get a load of information on the culture and history of the land that gave birth to the dance we love! This year fourteen faculty from the College of Liberal Arts at USI will focus on the Middle East, from 2600 BCE to the present. The Ram in the Thicket, made of gold, lapis and shell, is one of many stunningly beautiful art objects circa 2600 BCE from UR, the legendary birthplace of Abraham. This interdisciplinary, day long colloquium will examine inherited shared cultural motifs from the “Cradle of Civilization” --their origins and manifestations from the time of the Ram in the Thicket to the present. Click the link below to view the days schedule and abstracts of the various presentations.
